Bread from Heaven

In the barren wilderness, under the scorching sun, the Israelites trudged wearily, their stomachs empty and voices filled with discontent. They grumbled among themselves, their complaints echoing through the desolate landscape.

 

황량한 광야, 뜨거운 태양 아래서 이스라엘 백성들은 배는 고프고 목소리는 불만으로 가득 찬 채 지친 발걸음을 옮겼습니다. 그들의 불평은 황량한 풍경속으로 메아리쳤습니다.

 

"We followed Moses and Aaron into this forsaken place, and what do we have to show for it? Hunger! We're starving out here! Is this the Promised Land? Where is our God now?"

 

"모세와 아론을 따라 이 광야에 들어왔는데, 우리가 가진 게 뭐가 있나? 굶주림! 우린 여기서 굶주리고 있다구! 여기가 약속의 땅인가? 하나님은 지금 어디에 있는건가?"

 

Murmurs of discontent spread like wildfire among the people, each step weighed down by the burden of hunger. The once hopeful faces now wore expressions of frustration and despair.

 

불만의 소리가 들불처럼 퍼져나갔고, 배고픔으로 한 걸음 한걸음이 무거워졌습니다. 한때 희망에 차 있던 사람들의 얼굴은 이제 좌절과 절망의 표정이 되었습니다.

 

"Why did we leave Egypt? At least there, we had our fill. Here, we're wandering in this wilderness, and what do we get? Nothing!"

 

"우리는 왜 이집트를 떠났을까? 적어도 거기서는 먹고 살 만했잖아. 여기서 이 광야를 헤매고 있는데 얻은 게 뭐지? 아무것도!"

 

The complaints grew louder, forming a cacophony of discontent that reached the heavens. Moses and Aaron, burdened by the cries of their people, turned to the Lord in prayer, seeking a solution to ease the hunger that gripped the community.

 

불평은 점점 더 커져 하늘에 닿을 듯한 불협화음을 만들어 냈습니다. 백성들의 울부짖음에 부담을 느낀 모세와 아론은 주님께 기도하며 배고픔을 덜어줄 해결책을 구했습니다.

 

Then, as the evening descended, a miraculous event unfolded. Quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. The sky shimmered with an otherworldly glow, and the Israelites looked up in awe as small, round substances descended like a gentle rain. Manna, the bread from heaven, covered the ground, a miraculous provision from the Lord.

 

그리고 저녁이 되자 기적적인 사건이 벌어졌습니다. 메추라기가 날아와 진영을 덮었고, 아침에는 이슬이 진영 전체에 맺혔습니다. 하늘은 다른 세상의 빛으로 반짝였고, 이스라엘 사람들은 작고 동그란 물질이 가랑비처럼 내려오는 것을 보고 경외심에 찬 눈으로 하늘을 올려다보았습니다. 하늘에서 내려온 빵인 만나가 땅을 덮은 것은 주님이 주신 기적의 공급물이었습니다.

 

As the Israelites beheld the unexpected bounty, surprise mixed with gratitude. The same mouths that had echoed complaints moments ago now whispered in amazement.

 

이스라엘 백성들은 예상치 못한 양식을 보고 놀라움과 감사가 뒤섞였습니다. 방금 전까지 불만을 토로하던 입이 이제는 놀라서 속삭였습니다.

 

"What is it(Man hu)? Bread from the sky? Can you believe it?"

 

"이게 뭐야? 하늘에서 내려온 빵? 믿을 수 있니?"

 

"I never thought I'd see the day. God truly provides in mysterious ways!"

 

"이런 날이 올 줄은 몰랐어. 하나님은 정말 신비한 방법으로 공급해 주셔!"

 

The complaints transformed into grateful exclamations, and the once resentful hearts softened. Hands reached down to gather the fine, frost-like substance, the very bread the Lord had provided for their sustenance.

 

불평은 감사의 외침으로 바뀌었고, 원망스러웠던 마음은 부드러워졌습니다. 주님께서 그들의 생계를 위해 공급해 주신 바로 그 빵, 서리처럼 보이는 가는 싸라기 같은 것을 줍는 손길이 이어졌습니다.

 

"This is the bread which the Lord has given us to eat. It may not be what we expected, but it's a miracle in this wilderness."

 

"이것은 주님께서 우리에게 먹으라고 주신 빵입니다. 우리가 기대했던 것과는 다르지만 이 광야에서 기적이 일어났습니다."

 

And so, the people learned a valuable lesson – that sustenance could come in unexpected forms, and that relying on the Word of God was as vital as the bread that satisfied their physical hunger. The grumbles turned into gratitude, and the wilderness became a place of revelation and transformation, where faith grew stronger and reliance on God deepened.

 

그래서 사람들은 양식은 예상치 못한 형태로 올 수 있으며, 하나님 말씀에 의지하는 것이 육체적 허기를 채우는 빵만큼이나 중요하다는 귀중한 교훈을 얻었습니다. 불평은 감사로 바뀌었고, 광야는 계시와 변화의 장소가 되어 믿음이 더욱 강해지고 하나님을 의지함이 깊어집니다.

Enjoy Manna

As the family gathered in their tent, the aroma of the mysterious manna filled the air. They sat around, marveling at the provision from above, grateful for the daily bread that had become a symbol of God's care.

 

가족들이 장막에 모이자 신비로운 만나의 향기가 장막 안을 가득 채웠습니다. 가족들은 둘러앉아 하늘에서 내려주신 공급에 감탄하며 하나님의 돌보심의 상징이 된 일용할 양식에 감사했습니다

 

Father: (smiling) Well, look at what we have today – more of this heavenly bread. Truly, the Lord provides.

 

아버지: (미소 지으며) 우리가 가진 것을 보렴 - 참으로 주님이 이 하늘의 빵을 주셨어. 

 

Mother: (nodding) It's amazing, isn't it? I never thought we'd experience such a miracle. Just enough for each one of us, every morning.

 

어머니: (고개를 끄덕이며) 정말 놀랍지 않아요? 우리가 이런 기적을 경험하게 될 줄은 몰랐어요. 매일 아침 우리 각자가 먹을 만큼만요.

 

Son: (curious) Do you think it tastes the same every day?

 

아들: (궁금해서) 매일 같은 맛일까요?

 

Daughter: (holding a piece) I don't know, but it's always fresh. And it's better than being hungry, right?

 

딸 : (한 조각을 들고) 모르겠지만 항상 신선해. 배고픈 것보단 낫지?

 

Father: (chuckling) Absolutely. God knows exactly what we need. Remember, we gather just enough for the day – our daily bread.

 

아버지: (웃으며) 물론이지. 하나님은 우리에게 무엇이 필요한지 정확히 알고 계신단다. 우리는 일용할 양식, 즉 하루 동안 먹을 만큼만 모은다는 것을 기억해라.

 

Son: (thoughtful)  Give us our daily bread.

 

아들: (생각하며) 우리에게 일용할 양식을 주옵시고.

 

Mother: (nodding) Yes, dear. It's a reminder that we don't need to worry about tomorrow. God provides for us each day.

 

어머니: (고개를 끄덕이며) 그래, 얘야. 내일에 대해 걱정할 필요가 없다는 것을 상기시켜 주는구나. 하나님은 매일 공급해 주셔.

 

Daughter: (looking at the manna) I guess this is our reminder to be thankful for what we have and not be greedy.

 

딸: (만나를 바라보며) 이건 우리가 가진 것에 감사하고 욕심내지 말라는 뜻인 것 같아요.

 

Father: (wise smile) You're right. There's a lesson in this – contentment and gratitude. We don't need more than what God gives us.

 

아버지: (지혜로운 미소) 네 말이 맞다. 여기에는 만족과 감사라는 교훈이 있어. 우리는 하나님이 주신 것 이상을 필요로 하지 않아.

 

Son: (curious) But what if we want more? What if we try to save some for later, just in case?

 

아들: (궁금해서) 그런데 더 먹고 싶으면 어떻게 하죠? 혹시 모를 경우를 대비해 일부를 남겨두면 어떨까요?

 

Mother: (gentle) That's when fear starts to take over. We trust that God knows what's best for us. Trying to save more than we need might lead to resentment and a lack of gratitude.

 

어머니: (부드럽게) 그때부터 두려움이 엄습하기 시작하지. 하나님이 우리에게 가장 좋은 것을 아신다고 믿어. 필요한 것보다 더 많이 모으려고 하면 원망과 감사의 부족으로 이어질 수 있단다.

 

Daughter: (reflecting) So, we should focus on being thankful for today and trust that God will provide tomorrow too.

 

딸: (생각에 잠기며) 그래서 오늘에 감사하는 데 집중하고 하나님께서 내일도 주실 것을 믿어야 해요.

 

Father: (affirming) Exactly. And as long as we have enough for today, we have everything we need. Let's enjoy this manna together and give thanks.

 

아버지: (동의하며) 맞아. 오늘 먹을 만큼만 있으면 우리에게 필요한 모든 것이 있는 거야. 이 만나를 함께 즐기며 감사하자.

 

They bowed their heads in gratitude, savoring the miraculous provision before them. In that moment, their tent became a place of worship, where the daily bread not only satisfied their physical hunger but also nourished their spirits with gratitude and trust in the Lord's provision.

 

그들은 그들 앞에 놓인 기적의 공급을 음미하며 감사하는 마음으로 고개를 숙였습니다. 그 순간, 그들의 장막은 일용할 양식이 육체적 허기를 채울 뿐만 아니라, 주님의 공급에 대한 감사와 신뢰로 그들의 영혼을 살찌우는 예배의 장소가 되었습니다.

 Victory over the Amalekites

 

As the Israelites prepared to face the looming threat of Amalek, a group of soldiers gathered, their minds focused on the impending battle. Among them was a seasoned warrior, a father with a heart filled with determination, and a young recruit eager to prove his valor.

 

이스라엘 백성들이 다가오는 아말렉의 위협에 맞서기 위해 준비할 때, 한 무리의 병사들이 모여 임박한 전투에 집중했습니다. 그중에는 노련한 전사, 결단력이 넘치는 아버지, 용맹함을 증명하고 싶은 젊은 신병도 있었습니다.

 

Warrior: (addressing the troops) Brothers, today we face Amalek. They come with resentment in their hearts, blaming us for their perceived lack. But we know the truth – it's not about scarcity; it's about the absence of worship and gratitude.

 

전사: (병사들에게 말함) 형제들이여, 오늘 우리는 아말렉을 상대합니다. 그들은 마음속에 원한을 품고 와서 자신들의 결핍에 대해 우리를 탓합니다. 그러나 우리는 진실을 알고 있습니다. 그것은 부족함이 아니라 예배와 감사의 부재에 있습니다.

 

Young Recruit: (anxiously) What do we do? How can we win against such an enemy?

 

젊은 신병: (불안해하며) 어떻게 해야 하지? 어떻게 하면 저런 적을 이길 수 있을까요?

 

Warrior: (raising his weapon) We fight with the banner of victory, the banner of Adonai Nissi. Our victory is not just in physical strength but in the power of gratitude and worship.

 

전사: (무기를 들며) 우리는 승리의 깃발, 아도나이 닛시의 깃발을 들고 싸웁니다. 우리의 승리는 육체적 힘이 아니라 감사와 예배의 힘입니다.

 

Father: (encouragingly) Remember, our journey through the wilderness has taught us the importance of daily bread – both the physical and the spiritual. We have the manna, the Word, to sustain us.

 

아버지: (격려하며) 우리가 광야를 지나는 동안 일용할 양식, 즉 육체적, 영적 양식의 중요성을 배웠다는 것을 기억하세요. 우리에게는 우리를 지탱해 줄 만나, 즉 말씀이 있습니다.

 

Young Recruit: (curious) And what about tithing? Why is it crucial?

 

젊은 신병 : (궁금해서) 십일조는 어떻게 되나요? 왜 중요한가요?

 

Warrior: (smiling) Tithing is a declaration of trust and gratitude. It rearranges our priorities, putting worship before our worries. As we face Amalek, we declare that our trust is in the Lord.

 

전사: (웃으며) 십일조는 신뢰와 감사의 선언입니다. 십일조는 우리의 우선순위를 재정비하여 걱정보다 예배를 우선시하게 합니다. 아말렉과 마주할 때 우리는 주님을 신뢰한다고 선언합니다.

 

The soldiers, armed and determined, set out to face the enemy. As the battle raged, the soldiers fought not just with weapons but with hearts full of gratitude. They remembered the sweetness of the manna, the Word of God, and the importance of giving back in worship.

 

병사들은 무장을 갖추고 결의를 다지며 적과 맞서기 시작했습니다. 전투가 격렬해지자 병사들은 무기뿐만 아니라 감사하는 마음으로 싸웠습니다. 그들은 하나님의 말씀인 만나의 달콤함과 예배를 통해 드리는 것의 중요성을 기억했습니다.

 

Amalek attacked with hatred and resentment, but the Israelites, with Adonai Nissi as their banner, stood firm. In the midst of the chaos, the soldiers raised their voices in grateful prayer, turning the resentment of Amalek into a testimony of victory.

 

아말렉은 증오와 분노를 품고 공격했지만, 아도나이 닛시를 기치로 내건 이스라엘 백성들은 굳건히 맞섰습니다. 혼란 속에서도 병사들은 감사의 기도로 목소리를 높이며 아말렉의 원한을 승리의 간증으로 바꾸었습니다

 

Warrior: (shouting triumphantly) Adonai Nissi! Our victory is in the Lord! The enemy may come with resentment, but we stand firm in gratitude.

 

전사: (승리의 함성을 지르며) 아도나이 닛시! 우리의 승리는 주님 안에 있다! 적은 원한을 품고 올지라도 우리는 감사함으로 굳건히 서 있으리라.

 

As the dust settled and Amalek retreated, the soldiers gathered to give thanks, acknowledging that their victory was not just on the battlefield but in their hearts filled with worship and trust in the Word of God.

 

먼지가 걷히고 아말렉이 퇴각하자 병사들은 모여 감사 예배를 드리며, 그들의 승리가 전장에서만이 아니라 하나님의 말씀에 대한 예배와 신뢰로 가득 찬 마음에서 비롯되었음을 인정했습니다.
