Offering; A Journey of Spiritual Transformation

“Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

‘Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering [terumah].  

From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering.’”  

Exodus 25:1–2

 

주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. 

“너는 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여, 나에게 예물을 바치게 하여라.

누가 바치든지, 마음에서 우러나와 나에게 바치는 예물이면 받아라". 출애굽기 25:1,2

 

Last week in Parasha Mishpatim, God gave to the Israelites about 53 mitzvot (laws) out of the 613 commandments.  These laws included the treatment of parents, slaves, and foreigners, as well as other people’s property.

 

지난 주 파라샤 미쉬파팀에서 하나님은 이스라엘 백성에게 613개의 계명 중 53개의 미츠보트(율법)를 주셨습니다. 이 율법에는 부모, 노예, 외국인에 대한 대우와 다른 사람의 재산에 대한 내용이 포함되어 있습니다.

 

 

In the ancient text of the Torah, amidst the wilderness where vast expanses of sand meet the horizon, lies a profound narrative of offering and devotion. The title of this week’s Torah, Terumah (תְּרוּמָה), is taken from a Hebrew word meaning offering, gift, or contribution. In this Parasha, the Lord commands Moses to take up an  offering  from anyone who wholeheartedly wants to give from the people of Israel in order to build a sanctuary in the wilderness.

 

고대 토라 본문에는 광활한 모래밭이 지평선과 만나는 광야 한가운데에 헌물과 헌신에 관한 심오한 이야기가 담겨 있습니다. 이번 주 토라 말씀의 제목인 테루마(תְּרוּמָה)는 제물, 선물 또는 공헌을 뜻하는 히브리어에서 따온 말입니다. 이 파라샤에서 주님은 모세에게 광야에 성소를 짓기 위해 이스라엘 백성으로부터 진심으로 드리기를 원하는 자의 예물을 받으라고 명령하십니다.

 

Joyous giving to the Lord forms the cornerstone of worship. Within the wilderness, where values undergo a transformative shift, lies the essence of Terumah – a journey from the depths of worldly attachments to the exalted realm of divine closeness.

 

주님께 드리는 기쁨의 헌신이 예배의 초석이 됩니다. 가치관이 변화하는 광야에는 세상적인 집착의 깊은 곳에서 거룩한 친밀함의 고귀한 영역으로 나아가는 여정, 즉 테루마의 본질이 담겨 있습니다.

 

Echoes of Noah's ark, rising above the deluge, reverberate through the narrative, reminding us of the ascent from the murky depths of materialism to the transcendent heights of spiritual communion. Just as the ark symbolized salvation amidst the floodwaters, Terumah symbolizes a pathway to drawing nearer to the divine, amidst life's tempestuous seas.

 

대홍수 위로 떠오르는 노아의 방주의 메아리가 이야기 전반에 울려 퍼지며 물질주의의 어두운 심연에서 영적 교감의 초월적인 높이로 올라가는 것을 상기시켜 줍니다. 방주가 홍수 속에서 구원을 상징하는 것처럼, 테루마는 인생의 거친 바다 속에서 하나님께 더 가까이 다가가는 통로를 상징합니다.

 

In the wilderness, where the allure of Egyptian treasures fades into insignificance, the true value of offerings to the Almighty becomes apparent. It is here, amidst the barren landscape, that the tabernacle rises, a testament to the transformative power of selfless devotion.

 

이집트 보물의 매력이 사라진 광야에서 전능자에게 바치는 제물의 진정한 가치가 드러납니다. 황량한 풍경 속에서 이타적인 헌신의 변화의 힘을 증명하는 성막이 솟아오른 곳이 바로 이곳입니다.

 

Yet, amidst this journey, a cautionary tale emerges. The love of money, the worship of silver and gold idols, has the power to lead astray, causing souls to wander from the path of faith. Terumah's narrative serves as a beacon of guidance, illuminating the path from the pursuit of worldly riches to the service of God and the aid of the vulnerable.

 

그러나 이 여정 중에 한 가지 경고의 이야기가 등장합니다. 돈에 대한 사랑, 은과 금 우상을 숭배하는 것은 영혼을 타락시켜 믿음의 길에서 방황하게 만드는 힘이 있습니다. 테루마의 이야기는 세상의 부를 추구하는 것에서 하나님을 섬기고 연약한 사람들을 돕는 길로 인도하는 등대 역할을 합니다.

 

For in the wilderness of our lives, amidst the shifting sands of value and desire, lies the sanctuary of our souls, waiting to be built through the sacred act of giving and serving.

 

우리 삶의 광야, 가치와 욕망의 변화무쌍한 모래밭 한가운데 우리 영혼의 성소는 나눔과 섬김의 거룩한 행위를 통해 세워지기를 기다리고 있습니다.

In the tapestry of Terumah, the gifts of gold, silver, and bronze weave a narrative of profound symbolism and spiritual metamorphosis. Gold, emblematic of the clear skies above, invites us to transcend earthly desires and ascend to the heights of divine clarity. It echoes the words of Peter, bestowed upon the crippled man begging, "I don't have silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you"; the gift of mobility in the name of Yeshua, unlocking the power within to rise and walk.

 

테루마의 태피스트리에서 금, 은, 동의 예물은 심오한 상징과 영적 변화에 대한 이야기를 엮어냅니다. 맑은 하늘을 상징하는 금은 지상의 욕망을 초월하여 신성한 투명함의 높이로 올라가도록 우리를 초대합니다. 베드로는 구걸하는 다리 저는 사람을 향해 "은과 금은 내게 없으나, 내게 있는 것을 그대에게 주니" 나사렛 예슈아의 이름으로 움직일 수 있는 능력을 주고 일어나 걸을 수 있는 힘을 열어준 베드로의 말을 떠올리게 합니다.

 

Silver, not a longing for wealth, but a yearning for the will and presence of the Lord, guides us away from the treacherous path of materialism. Bronze, with its echoing of coins and serpent-like hiss, signals a transformation in values, urging us to shed the shackles of worldly concerns and embrace a higher calling.

 

은은 부를 갈망하는 것이 아니라 주님의 뜻과 임재를 갈망하는 것으로, 우리를 물질주의의 위험한 길에서 벗어나게 합니다. 동전 소리와 뱀처럼 쉭쉭거리는 소리를 내는 동은 가치관의 변화를 나타내며 세상적인 관심의 족쇄를 벗어던지고 더 높은 소명을 받아들이도록 촉구합니다.

 

Yet, amidst the precious metals, threads of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn intertwine, each bearing its own sacred significance. The blue thread, a river of living water flowing within, represents the essence of life itself. Purple, the hue of kings, symbolizes nobility and regal bearing, while scarlet embodies the precious blood and sacrificial love of Yeshua. Fine linen, the death of ego and the emergence of holiness, calls us to transcend the mundane and embrace the divine within.

 

그러나 귀금속 사이로 청색, 자색, 홍색 실이 서로 얽혀 있으며 각각 고유한 성스러운 의미를 담고 있습니다. 청색 실은 내면에 흐르는 생수의 강으로 생명의 본질을 나타냅니다. 왕의 색인 자색은 고귀함과 당당함을 상징하며, 홍색은 예슈아의 고귀한 피와 희생적인 사랑을 상징합니다. 자아의 죽음과 거룩함의 출현을 의미하는 세마포는 세속을 초월하여 내면의 신성을 품으라고 촉구합니다.

 

Goat's hair, a symbol of fear and anxiety, reminds us to turn to prayer in times of worry, finding solace in the embrace of the Almighty. Ram skins dyed red, reminiscent of the garments bestowed upon Adam and Eve, clothe us in the identity of Yeshua, covering our shame and restoring our dignity.

 

두려움과 불안의 상징인 염소 털은 걱정할 때 기도에 의지하고 전능자의 품에서 위안을 찾으라고 상기시킵니다. 아담과 하와에게 입힌 옷을 연상시키는 붉은 숫양의 가죽은 예슈아의 정체성으로 우리를 입혀 우리의 수치심을 덮고 존엄성을 회복시켜 줍니다.

 

Badger skins, like water covering the sea, signify the triumph of life over death, the victory of the water of life over the abyss of mortality. Acacia wood, the thorn tree of hardship, teaches us that growth often comes through struggle, and that our trials can lead to spiritual fortitude.

 

바다를 덮은 물처럼 해달 가죽은 죽음에 대한 생명의 승리, 죽음의 심연에 대한 생명수의 승리를 상징합니다. 고난의 가시나무인 아카시아 나무는 성장은 종종 고난을 통해 이루어지며, 시련은 정신적 강인함으로 이어질 수 있다는 교훈을 줍니다.

 

Oil for the light and spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense speak to the process of life itself, the pressing and refining that transforms the ordinary into the sacred. Onyx stones, gems of eternal promise, beckon us to purify our hearts, seek forgiveness, and repent of our transgressions.

 

빛을 위한 기름과 기름부음용 향료와 달콤한 향은 평범한 것을 성스러운 것으로 변화시키는 삶의 과정, 즉 압착과 정제의 과정을 상징합니다. 영원한 약속의 보석과 호마노는 우리의 마음을 정화하고 용서를 구하며 죄를 회개하도록 우리를 손짓합니다.

 

As we heed the divine command to construct the tabernacle according to the pattern shown, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual realization. We relinquish the treasures we cling to and erect a tent of obedience, moving in accordance with the blueprint of divine revelation.

 

보여주신 양식에 따라 성막을 지으라는 하나님의 명령에 귀 기울이며 우리는 자기 발견과 영적 깨달음의 여정을 시작합니다. 우리는 집착하는 보물을 버리고 하나님의 계시의 청사진에 따라 움직이며 순종의 장막을 세웁니다.

 

In the sanctuary within, the image of God materializes, and our lives become a testament to His grace and glory. In the gift of Terumah, we find not only the means to construct a physical dwelling for the divine, but the blueprint for building an eternal sanctuary within our souls.

 

내면의 성소에서 하나님의 형상이 구체화되고 우리의 삶은 그분의 은혜와 영광에 대한 증거가 됩니다. 테루마의 선물에서 우리는 하나님을 위한 물리적 거처를 짓는 수단뿐만 아니라 우리 영혼 안에 영원한 성소를 짓기 위한 청사진을 발견합니다.
