When Moses was put in danger after receiving his commission, Zipporah took a flint knife and cut off her son's foreskin, placed it on Moses' feet, and said, “You are a bloody bridegroom to me.” These words mean, "Truly you are my husband, for you shed your blood for me."

When Moses was in danger for some unknown reason, his wife Zipporah saved him by circumcising her son. Circumcision is a ritual of cutting off the foreskin, and its spiritual meaning is related to the shedding of blood on the cross.
