Names; Finding that name, Moses

“These are the names [ve’eleh sh'mot] of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob,

each with his family.”  (Exodus 1:1)

In last week’s Torah portion, Parasha Vayechi, the first of the five books of Moses, Genesis (Bereisheet — In the Beginning), ended with the deaths of Jacob and Joseph.

This week, we begin the second book of the Torah, Exodus, called Sh'mot in Hebrew, whichb means names.

 

이번 주에는 히브리어로 이름을 뜻하는 셰모트라고 불리는 토라의 두 번째 책인 출애굽기를 시작합니다.

 

Indeed, the concept of a name holds profound significance in the Hebrew tradition, reflecting a delegated meaning and often carrying the essence of heaven's purpose. 

 

실제로 이름이라는 개념은 히브리 전통에서 깊은 의미를 지니고 있으며, 위임된 의미를 반영하고 종종 하늘의 목적의 본질을 담고 있습니다.

 

Because Pharaoh’s daughter drew the baby from the Nile, she called him Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) from the word moshech, meaning pull or draw.

 

파라오의 공주는 아기를 나일강에서 건져 올렸다고 해서 '당기다, 끌어당긴다'는 뜻의 모셰흐(מֹשֶׁה)라는 단어에서 모셰(מֹשֶׁה)라고 불렀습니다.

 

Just as Moses exemplified a life transcending the literal interpretation of his name, the broader Jewish narrative echoes this quest for a deeper, heavenly purpose. The journey encompasses historical struggles, and a continuous exploration of identity in the context of divine design.

The search for their name isn't merely a linguistic exploration but a spiritual pilgrimage, reflecting a deeper connection with the divine and an unfolding of God's plan. In this ongoing odyssey, Israel seeks not only to find its name but to live it, embracing the heavenly significance woven into its identity.

Finding that name

 

In the quiet corridors of time, a quest unfolds, names echoing through ages, stories to be told.

A journey not of miles, but of profound grace, seeking the essence lost, in the sacred embrace.

 

고요한 시간의 복도에서, 오랜 세월을 거쳐 울려 퍼지는 이름과 전해질 이야기가 있는 탐험이 펼쳐집니다.

Israel, a wanderer through history's vast expanse, chasing the whispers of a name.

Through the echoes of prophets and the sacred scrolls, a pilgrimage for the name, the heart of ancient souls.

 

광활한 역사 속을 떠도는 방랑자 이스라엘은 이름의 속삭임을 쫓습니다.

선지자들의 메아리와 성스러운 두루마리를 통해 고대 영혼의 중심인 이름을 찾아 떠나는 순례입니다.

 

In the shadows of the Torah, a mystery concealed, the name of Yeshua, a revelation yet revealed.

Gentile churches, a melody in the Savior's fame, yet Israel lingers, yearning to find that name.

 

토라의 그림자 속에 감춰진 비밀, 예수의 이름, 계시는 아직 드러나지 않았습니다.

이방인 교회들은 구세주의 명성을 노래하지만, 이스라엘은 여전히 그 이름을 찾기를 갈망하며 머뭇거립니다.

 

The world, a noisy clamor, obscures the truth untold, forcing identities, stories reshaped, and spirits sold.

Exodus, not just from lands of sand and stone, but from the world's whispers, to the name's true throne.

 

세상은 시끄러운 아우성으로 진실을 모호하게 하고, 정체성을 강요하고, 이야기를 바꾸고, 영혼을 팔아넘깁니다.

As Gentiles savor Yeshua's name with delight, Israel still wanders, in the shadows of the night.

For them, names aren't mere sounds, but sacred keys, unlocking doors to truth, unshackling destinies.

 

이방인들이 예슈아의 이름을 기뻐하며 음미하나, 이스라엘은 여전히 밤의 그림자 속에서 방황합니다.

그들에게 이름은 단순한 소리가 아니라 진리의 문을 열고 운명의 족쇄를 풀어주는 신성한 열쇠입니다.

 

On the canvas of the new year, let the verses proclaim, a timeless odyssey, the essence of a name.

May Israel find the Messiah's truth untamed, in the sacred echoes, of Yeshua's name reclaimed.
