And Jacob lived; Jacob's prophecy

In the end of his days, Jacob summoned his sons, a call signifying not just a will, but a call to arms—a war against the forces that sought to divide. Itself carried the weight of reclaiming what was lost, restoring, and establishing. It spoke of a gathering that demanded risking life itself, a unity that defied the schemes of the enemy.

 

인생의 마지막에 야곱은 아들들을 불렀습니다. 이 부름은 단순한 유언이 아니라 분열을 획책하는 세력에 맞선 전쟁, 즉 무장을 촉구하는 의미였습니다. 그 자체는 잃어버린 것을 되찾고, 회복하고, 세우고자 하는 의미가 담겨 있습니다. 목숨을 걸고 모이는 모임, 적의 계략에 맞서는 단결에 대해 이야기합니다.

 

The severity in Jacob's voice reflected the importance of regaining what had been lost, removing the barriers of separation, and embracing a unity that only manifested when hearts were firmly intertwined. It was a prophetic moment, a poignant plea to come together, listen, and seize the blessings and warnings that could only be grasped in the unity of their assembly.

 

야곱의 목소리에 담긴 엄중함은 잃어버린 것을 되찾고, 분리의 장벽을 없애고, 서로의 마음이 단단히 얽혀 있을 때만 나타나는 연합을 끌어안음이 중요하다고 말합니다. 그것은 예언적인 순간이었으며, 함께 모여서 경청하고 그 자리에서만 파악할 수 있는 축복과 경고를 붙잡으라는 간절한 호소였습니다.

 

As he faced Reuben, his firstborn, Jacob's tone wavered between weakness and clarity. With a heavy heart, he said "Reuben, my son, you were excellent, the firstborn, with the potential for greatness. Yet, like a turbulent wave, you surged forth, defiling my bed by lying with Bilhah, my concubine. This act has brought sorrow to my heart. You shall not excel above all, for your impulsive actions have stained your honor."

 

맏아들 르우벤을 마주한 야곱의 어조는 약함과 명료함 사이에서 흔들렸습니다. 그는 무거운 마음으로  다음과 같이 이야기했습니다. " 내 아들 르우벤아, 너는 뛰어난 장자요, 큰 자의 가능성을 가지고 있었으나, 네가 거친 파도처럼 밀려와서, 내 첩 빌하와 동침하여 내 침상을 더럽혔으니, 이것이 내 마음에 슬픔을 안겨 주었다. 너는 모든 것보다 뛰어나지 못할 것은 네 충동적인 행동이 네 명예를 더럽혔음이니라."

 

Turning his gaze to Simeon and Levi, Jacob's voice carried a weight of disappointment. He spoke of the swords they brandished in the incident with Dinah, cautioning against the divisive nature of such weapons. He warns against participating in meetings that fueled resentment, prejudice, and hostility towards Gentiles.

 

시므온과 레위에게 시선을 돌린 야곱의 목소리에는 실망의 무게가 묻어났습니다. 야곱은 디나 사건에서 그들이 휘두른 칼이 분열을 조장하는 무기이며, 이방인에 대한 분노, 편견, 적대감을 조장하는 모임에 참여하지 말 것을 경고합니다.

 

Turning to Judah, he envisioned a hymn rising from his descendants—a melody of blessing echoing through time. With poetic imagery, Jacob spoke of Judah's eyes, darker than wine, and his teeth, whiter than milk—a vivid depiction symbolizing the restoration of the Jewish people, entrusted with the sacred mission of the precious blood and the enduring word.

 

야곱은 유다를 바라보며 그의 후손들이 부르는 찬송가, 즉 시대를 초월해 울려 퍼지는 축복의 멜로디를 상상했습니다. 야곱은 그의 눈은 포도주보다 더 진하고 이는 우유 빛보다 더 희다고 말하며, 이는 보혈과 영원한 말씀의 거룩한 사명을 맡은 유대 민족의 회복을 상징하는 생생한 묘사였습니다.

 

Shifting his gaze to Zebulun, Jacob painted a prophetic picture of a life by the sea. He spoke of the sea transforming into a bustling harbor for ships, foretelling a mission to embrace the nations. In this moment of revelation, Jacob recognized the shift from the traditional herding ways of the Jewish people to a new role—navigators and ambassadors embracing the vastness of the sea.

 

야곱은 시선을 스불론으로 옮겨 바닷가의 삶에 대한 예언적인 그림을 그렸습니다. 그는 바다가 배들이 북적이는 항구로 변모하는 모습을 말하며 열방을 품을 사명을 예고했습니다. 이 계시의 순간에 야곱은 유대인의 전통적인 목축업에서 광활한 바다를 품는 항해자이자 대사로의 새로운 역할로의 전환을 인식했습니다.

 

Addressing Issachar, he saw a faithful donkey—a symbol of hard work and diligence, carrying the mission of bringing rest. Issachar expressed faith in the divine reward for the tireless efforts invested.

 

야곱은 잇사갈에게 안식을 가져다주는 사명을 지닌 근면과 부지런함의 상징인 충실한 당나귀를 보았습니다. 잇사갈은 지칠 줄 모르는 노력을 하나님이 갚아주시리라는 믿음이 있습니다.

 

Contemplating Dan, the imagery shifted to a judge—a figure akin to a snake along the road, positioned to make horse riders fall backward. Here, the hidden mission unfolded, symbolizing a role in the judgment of the Antichrist in the culmination of times.

 

단을 생각하면서 길가에 있는 뱀과 비슷한 형상, 즉 말을 탄 사람이 뒤로 넘어지게 하는 위치에 있는 심판자로 바뀌었습니다. 그의 숨겨진 임무는 마지막 때 적그리스도를 심판하는 역할을 상징합니다.

 

Gad emerged as a warrior of reversal, embodying the spirit of David charging toward Goliath—a mission to aggressively confront and defeat the enemy.

 

갓은 골리앗을 향해 돌진하는 다윗의 정신, 즉 적과 적극적으로 맞서 싸워 물리치는 사명을 구현하는 역전의 용사로 등장했습니다.

 

Turning to Asher, Jacob envisioned a servant offering everything with joy, akin to setting the king's table. The mission of Asher lay in cheerful service and complete dedication to God.

 

야곱은 아셀에게 왕의 식탁을 차리듯 모든 것을 기쁨으로 드리는 신하의 모습을 상상했습니다. 아셀의 사명은 하나님께 기쁨으로 봉사하고 온전히 헌신하는 것입니다.

 

For Naphtali, the picturesque image of a free doe capturing the essence of a beautiful sound and spreading the gospel symbolized a mission to convey the message of freedom and grace.

 

납달리에게 아름다운 소리의 본질을 포착하고 복음을 전하는 자유로운 암사슴의 그림 같은 이미지는 자유와 은혜의 메시지를 전하는 사명을 상징합니다.

 

"Joseph, my son, you are like a fruitful vine that stretches over the wall, thriving abundantly. The source of your strength is the spring of grace, overflowing and bringing life to all who come near. Your branches climb over walls, reaching out to the Gentiles, and your blessings surpass those of your brothers. You are destined for remarkable missions among foreign nations, may the grace that surges from this fountain empower you to break through barriers and expand your influence, becoming a beacon of blessing to the nations."

 

"내 아들 요셉아, 너는 담장 너머로 뻗어 풍성하게 자라는 열매 맺는 포도나무와 같다. 네 힘의 원천은 은혜의 샘물이며, 가까이 오는 모든 이에게 생명을 넘치게 할 것이다. 네 가지는 벽을 타고 올라가 이방인에게 손을 뻗고, 네 축복은 형제들의 축복을 능가한다. 이방인들 사이에서 놀라운 선교를 할 운명을 타고 났으니  이 샘에서 솟구치는 은혜로 장벽을 뚫고 영향력을 확장하여 열방에 축복의 등불이 되기를 바란다."

 

In this sacred moment, Jacob spoke as a father, prophetically unraveling the unique missions and destinies of his sons, marking the beginning of their collective journey. 

 

이 신성한 순간에 야곱은 아버지로서 아들들의 고유한 사명과 운명을 예언적으로 풀어내며 공동의 여정의 시작을 알렸습니다.
